Ceylon Fertilizer Corporation which was established in 1964 was re-established as Ceylon Fertilizer Company in 1992. It is Ceylon Fertilizer Company so established that functions today as the foremost state institute in charge of making the fertilizer subsidy meant for the farming community of Sri Lanka as stated in the Mahinda Chinthana policy of the government into a reality.

This Company which existed as an unstable institute with a minus net current asset of Rs. 340 million in the accounting year 2007/2008 was made into an stable institute subsequently by the end of the accounting year 2012/2013 with a net current asset of Rs.1606 million and at the end of the accounting year 2012/2013 the net assets of the Company had increased up to Rs. 3739 million. Ceylon Fertilizer Company which earned a profit of Rs. 199 million before tax during the accounting year 2012/2013 has paid dividends to the tune of Rs. 38 million to the General Treasury for the year of 2013.

Ceylon Fertilizer Company which imports and distributes throughout the island around 3 lakhs MT of fertilizer as paddy subsidy annually under the Mahinda Chinthana policy has sold 37,745 MTof fertilizer subsidies for other crops in the year 2013. This Company has obtained ISO 9001:2008 international quality standard certification and ISO/IEC/17025:2005 International Standard of quality Certification for its laboratory and also the accreditation of the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board. At the time of celebrating its fiftieth anniversary Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited enjoys the position of an institute which has won many awards such as the national Productivity Award 2011, Business Excellence Award 2013, national quality Standards Award 2013 and the runner-up award for the Annual Report of 2013.
